The 61st Annual Dinner of NORFED
Guest Speaker Dai Atkins BSAC Diving Officer
Dai is a multi-disciplined technical person with experience of a wide range of application techniques and has very good analytical, consulting and mediating skills with a methodical and determined approach to problem solving. Dai uses his own initiative and works well within a team; he has excellent communication and organisational skills. He is committed to maintaining standards of the highest quality.
Over the last 12 months as NDO he has selected a team of people around him. Fortunately, he has a team of awesome volunteers working alongside him on the National Dive Committee (NDC). He can manage several projects simultaneously. An obvious one being the ongoing Diver Training Programme Review which is currently looking at “Sports Diver” and how it remains fit for purpose and integrates well into our suite of diver training grades.
Dai’s science background enables him to instruct students in the physical and chemical processes that occur during different types of dives and the necessary gas blending and decompression theory to safely conduct themselves. Recreationally, he uses an “Inspiration Closed-Circuit Rebreather” to prolong dive times and maximise the limitations of necessary decompression models. Dai in his spare time enjoys spending time with his family and travelling and take every opportunity to do so, combining them with his other interests of skiing and sub-aqua whenever possible.
Saturday evening at 6-30 pm we will meet in the bar for a 7 pm sit down and welcome our president and guest speaker.
